Liverpool And City Set For Battle Over Brazilian Wonderkid Who Can Leave His Club In June

Liverpool and Manchester City are both interested in signing Fluminense forward Kayky, according to Brazilian news portal Netflu.com.

The website, which specialises in news surrounding Fluminense, claims the two Premier League clubs are keeping tabs on the 17-year-old, with the player also attracting interest from Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk.

Kayky has yet to play a game in senior football but he’s already excelled for Brazil’s national side at youth level. The striker is seen as one of the most promising talents coming through the system.

However, he will be free to leave Fluminense when he turns 18 in June as he has yet to sign a professional contract.  Negotiations are thought to be underway between the player’s agent Fred Moraes, and his club but, so far, attempts at renewing his deal have not been successful.

Fluminense are thought to be considering whether to offer Kayky first-team opportunities in order to persuade him to stay but the teenager is believed to be keen on playing in Europe.
