43M Rated Defender ‘Impressing’ Michael Edwards As Liverpool Draw Up List Of Konate Alternatives

Leicester City centre-back Caglar Soyuncu is “impressing” Liverpool sporting director Michael Edwards and could be considered as an alternative to Ibrahima Konate, according to the Mirror.

It is believed the Reds are targeting Soyuncu, along with three other players if their attempts to secure the signing of Konate fall-through.

Chelsea and Manchester United are also thought to be eyeing Konate, who has a €40m (£34m) release clause, and while the Reds have been widely touted as favourites for the Frenchman’s signature, there are other names in the frame.

As well as Soyuncu, Liverpool have a longstanding interest in Brighton’s Ben White, and they are also weighing up whether to revive a bid for Marseille’s Duje Caleta-Car, who they missed out on in January. The Merseyside club may also consider signing Ozan Kabak on a permanent basis from Schalke.

Were Edwards to make a move for Soyuncu, though, he is unlikely to come cheap. When the Reds were last linked with the 24-year-old in May last year, he was valued at €50m (£43m).
