£50m Ligue One Star ‘Eyeing’ Liverpool Move And Is ‘Hoping’ That The Reds Come Calling Next Summer

Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumare is “eyeing” a move to Liverpool or Manchester United in the summer, according to Le 10 Sport. The French publication claims that the 20-year-old is “hoping” one of the two English clubs will make a bid for him in the next few months.

The Frenchman apparently turned down a switch to Newcastle on deadline day with the Magpies reportedly prepared to pay €45m (£38m), with bonuses that would have seen the fee rise to €60m (£50m).

However, it is believed Soumare was not convinced about a move to the North East and stayed at Lille instead as he waits for an offer from a more high profile club.

Neither Liverpool nor Manchester United are said to have made a bid for the midfielder but they have been watching the player’s development closely over the course of this season.

It was reported in the English media last month that United and Chelsea were the two teams likeliest to sign Soumare but the France Under 21 international will now have to wait until the end of the campaign to make his move.
