Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson made a crucial block from Sheffield United midfielder John Fleck to prevent the Blades scoring the opening goal yesterday.
Fleck had turned Fabinho inside out before firing a shot at Adrian’s goal, but the goalkeeper didn’t need to be called into action as Robertson threw his body to get in the way of the strike. Supporters on Twitter were praising the fullback for his crucial intervention:
Great play by Robertson- a game saver.

How on earth Marcelo was chosen on team of the year instead of this guy kills me. Andrew has been too good by far.

Robertson had been unfairly criticised after giving away a penalty in the 2-0 defeat to Napoli and his performance at Bramall Lane showed what he is all about.
Many pundits see the 25-year-old’s key strengths in the attacking third with his supreme crossing ability, but he is arguably just as strong defensively and was on hand to make an important challenge.
With the Reds securing a hard-fought 1-0 win, they can thank Robertson and the defence for keeping up their 100% start to the season.
