Liverpool are keeping tabs on Benfica midfielders Enzo Fernandez and Florentino Luis, according to reports in the Portuguese media.
The pair both have release clauses worth €120m, which means they are valued at a combined £207m, and supporters on Twitter are rather sceptical about the Reds’ chances of landing the pair:
So a non-starter then. Who is next to be linked where we have an above 95% chance of getting?

Exactly. Make no sense.

Lol we’re not getting them 😂Not if we’re still going for Jude as Klopp said. We are also always linked with everyone…

Just because that’s their release clause doesn’t mean that’s what they will be sold for.

Like we’re interested in Matheus Nunes could’ve got him for 30 mil now would cost 80 mil. Our recruitment team have fallen off

Fernandez has been linked with a move to Anfield regularly over the last few months or so. The Argentinian international had also been tracked by Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester City, Manchester United and Real Madrid before he made the switch to Benfica from River Plate in the summer. The fact that he has only recently arrived in Portugal means the player is unlikely to leave for a fee below his buyout clause.
Luis’s situation isn’t that much different. The 23-year-old has also been linked with a move to the Premier League in the past. However, he has just signed a new contract so you would think that Benfica will be keen to keep hold of him as well.
Liverpool may have to look elsewhere if they want to strengthen their midfield in January or at the end of the season.
