Aaron Ramsdale Names The Liverpool Star Who’s “Properly Underrated” By Fans

Arsenal and England goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale says he can’t understand the stick that Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson receives from fans.

The 32-year-old has been regularly criticised for his performances at club and international level over the years but Ramsdale feels the midfielder deserves a lot more credit:

“He gets so disrespected because he doesn’t play all the nice stuff. He runs like 12k a game, the way he talks to people on the pitch. The things he does do, he’ll play an unbelievable pass or cross, but it won’t really get talked about because he’s probably just done it once in the game. He’s properly underrated at England by the fans, not by the players. They love him.”

Supporters have entrenched views on Henderson so it is not really worth getting into a debate about his ability as a footballer.

Ramsdale’s England teammate and Liverpool target Jude Bellingham has also sprung to the defence of Henderson in recent months but their remarks are likely to fall on deaf ears.

There’s no doubt that his form since the World Cup has been very poor, but you could say that about pretty much every player in the first-team squad.

In terms of his legacy as Liverpool captain, the fact that he has won seven major trophies since taking over the armband kind of tells you all you need to know. You don’t win that much just by being lucky.
