‘Absolute Joke’ ‘Wtf Is Wrong With Us’ Fans Angered As Maddock Reveals Liverpool Will Refuse To Pay More Than £30m For Top Target

Anfield Stadium

Liverpool will not sanction a deal for RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner unless the German international is made available for below £30m, according to the Mirror‘s David Maddock.

The usually reliable journalist says the Reds are not going to match the 24-year-old’s €60m (£53m) release clause in the current financial climate. The news has not gone down well among fans on Twitter:

There could be some brinkmanship going on here. Werner is clearly keen on a move to Anfield and if he does turn down transfers to other clubs, Liverpool are in a position to drive a hard bargain.

Of course, there is the risk that the player himself runs out of patience and decides to move elsewhere. Clubs such as Barcelona and Inter Milan are believed to be keen on the German, while the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United are also said to be keeping tabs on the player.
