Agent Claims Brazilian Legend Taffarel Has Been Appointed As Liverpool’s New Goalkeeping Coach

Player agent Bayram Dagdeviren has claimed that Brazilian goalkeeping legend Claudio Taffarel is now employed by Liverpool.

The 55-year-old has been working with Alisson Becker for the Brazilian national team and Dagdeviren says he will now also help him at club level:

Dagdeviren is part of the BD Sports Management group, which seems to have connections with a number of current and former Brazilian players, including Taffarel.

There has been no official word from Liverpool about Taffarel’s appointment as a goalkeeping coach so it is probably wise to take Dagdeviren’s claims with a pinch of salt.

John Achterberg is currently head of the goalkeeping department and it would be surprising if a high-profile ex-pro such a Taffarel would work under him. It may simply be the case that Alisson wants his fellow Brazilian around for advice and support on a full-time basis but we shall see if the coach is pictured at the AXA Training Centre in the coming weeks.
