Agent Confirms Turkish Star Is Being Watched By Liverpool

The agent of Trabzonspor goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir has revealed that Liverpool are among the teams interested in the 23-year-old.

Speaking about his client, Engin Kirkpinar confirmed that the Reds, Lille and Schalke have all sent scouts to watch the Turkish star in action, with the Merseysiders having also spoken to him about the player:

“Every team have scouts and some of them are following Ugurcan’s matches. Schalke haven’t made an official offer for him.”

“I know Lille and Schalke are following him. Liverpool are also interested in him. Liverpool officials have talked with us, we had some contacts, but no official offer has come from them.”

Cakir has been called up for Turkey’s senior side but has yet to get his first cap after being an unused substitute in the Euro 2020 qualifiers against Albania and Moldova back in March.

For his club, he has been Trabzonspor’s first choice keeper since the beginning of November, but he has only made 41 senior appearances in total.

Cakir could be someone that Liverpool are looking at to replace Simon Mignolet. The Belgian has been Alisson’s number two this season but has publicly stated in the past that he wants regular first-team football.

If he asks to go this summer, manager Jurgen Klopp will likely allow him to leave.
