Alexander Arnold Claims “World Class” Chelsea Star Stopped Liverpool From Securing The Three Points On Sunday

Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold believes only some superb saves from Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy stopped the Reds from beating their title rivals at the weekend.

The Senegalese international made some excellent stops in the second half, most notably from Mo Salah and Sadio Mane, and Alexander-Arnold admitted they had come up against a top drawer keeper:

“We defended well and never gave them too many chances and we had the better chances in the second half. But when you are up against a world-class team with a world-class goalkeeper he makes world-class saves. So, like I said, I think a point apiece is fair.”

Despite Mendy having had a very good game on Sunday, Liverpool will still be disappointed not to have come away with a win, despite what Alexander-Arnold says.

They were 2-0 up in the first half, and it would have been very frustrating to get pegged back to 2-2. Staying in front and controlling games has, though, been a big problem for Jurgen Klopp’s men.

Leads against the likes of Brentford, Manchester City, Brighton and Tottenham have all been given away this season, and it looks as though those results will now cost them dearly in the title race.
