Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara has suffered a minor injury which will keep him out of the friendlies against Bologna today.
Manager Jurgen Klopp says the Spaniard won’t play as a precaution and the player should be back in full training sometime next week before the first league game of the season versus Norwich:
“We don’t take any risks. He’s part of parts of training and in these little things he looks great, but it’s more the longer distances where he struggles slightly. We have to make sure that will be sorted and we are on it. I think he will be in next week, [at the] latest, in full training.”
Supporters on Twitter are not particularly happy about the news, with many hoping that Thiago’s absence does not lead to another injury crisis:

Most fans would argue that the Reds need to strengthen their midfield options before the transfer window closes later this month. The Merseyside club have not replaced Georginio Wijnaldum who left on a free transfer in June.
Whether the finances are there to add another quality midfielder to the squad, though, it remains to be seen. A number of players have been linked, including Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez and Lille’s Renato Sanches, but so far no new additions have been brought in to strengthen that area of the pitch.
