Liverpool’s Champions League hopes are still hanging by a thread, despite a win against Wolves just before the international break, so a victory against Arsenal on Saturday is vital.

In contrast, the Gunners have very little to play for in the league, having drawn at West Ham last time out, and their main focus is their Europa League campaign.

It won’t be an easy game for the Reds, though, especially with their injury situation showing no signs of improving. Captain Jordan Henderson could now be out for the remainder of the season with a groin injury, joining the likes of Virgil van Dijk (knee), Joel Matip (ankle) and Joe Gomez (knee) as long term absentees.

Caiomhin Kelleher and Divock Origi are both doubts for this weekend’s game, but there was some good news for manager Jurgen Klopp, with Roberto Firmino returning to training after a knee injury.

Arsenal have three players with fitness issues. Emile Smith Rowe picked up a knock whilst on international duty with England’s Under 21s while Willian (calf) and Bukayo Saka (hamstring) are both touch and go to be fit.
