“As Things Stand…” Reliable Journalist Responds To Claims That Liverpool Have Agreed £58M Fee To Sign Midfielder

There has been “no contact” between Liverpool and Brighton regarding Alexis Mac Allister, according to The Athletic‘s Andy Naylor.

Reports in the Italian media had claimed that the Reds had agreed a €65m (£58m) fee for the midfielder, including add-ons, but Naylor, (who is known to have trusted sources at the Seagulls), has played down those rumours:

Mac Allister is thought to be a priority target for manager Jurgen Klopp, with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano having recently said that the German wants to sign the Argentinian international and Chelsea’s Mason Mount.

At this moment in time, though, it doesn’t appear as if Liverpool have opened formal negotiations with Brighton. Talks with the player’s father and agent are believed to have taken place, but that doesn’t mean an agreement is imminent.

Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea have been mentioned as other potential suitors for Mac Allister so we shall see how this transfer story develops.
