Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp rested all of his first-team eleven against Arsenal for the remarkable Carabao Cup win last night, but they didn’t come out of the evening unscathed.

Naby Keita’s injury problems look set to continue. The Guinean injured himself stretching for the ball in the second half of the shootout victory yesterday, and he was substituted on 55 minutes.

Klopp said he is hopeful it is nothing serious but he is a major doubt for Saturday’s match against Aston Villa. Joel Matip (knee), Xherdan Shaqiri (calf) and Nathaniel Clyne (knee) are all out of contention.

Villa head into this weekend’s contest after their own win in the League Cup midweek, and while they did lose to Manchester City last time out in the league, they have been putting in some impressive recent performances.

Manager Dean Smith is sweating over the fitness of captain Jack Grealish. The midfielder was substituted in the City defeat due to a calf problem and is a doubt for Saturday’s game.

Henri Lansbury is, though, likely to be fit after suffering cramp versus Wolves, but Keinan Davis (hamstring) and Jota (groin) are major doubts for the match.

At the bookies, Liverpool are massive favourites to get the three points despite being away from home. They are 4/11 at Coral for the win while a draw is 17/4 with William Hill. A Villa victory is currently priced at 8/1 at Betfair.
