Atletico Madrid star and Liverpool target insists he is staying put this summer

Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak has insisted he will stay in Spain this summer, ending speculation he could move to either Liverpool or PSG.

The Slovenia international has established himself as one of the world’s best goalkeepers during his four season spell with Atletico.

And his performances have turned the head of some of the biggest clubs in Europe, including both PSG and Liverpool.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is a big admirer of Oblak, and is understood to keen on bringing him to Anfield this summer as he looks for a replacement for inconsistent duo Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet.

But Atletico are keen to keep hold of Oblak and would be unwilling to sell their No.1 goalkeeper for a fee lower than his €100 million (£88m) release clause.

And Oblak too says he will stay with Atletico despite interest from around Europe.

When asked by AS if he wanted to remain at Atletico this summer, Oblak replied: “I have a contract.”

He continued: “I like the team we are building.”

Atletico have already agreed a deal for winger Thomas Lemar from AS Monaco – who was also a target for Liverpool – and have tied star striker Antoine Griezmann down to new a long-term contract.
