Photos that apparently show Nike’s first home shirt for Liverpool have leaked online, and they reinforce earlier reports of the green teal trimming on the collar and sleeves.
The kit manufacturer has opted against using gold and have instead used white for the badge and sponsor’s logo. The main criticism is the badge which appears to be ironed on, rather than embroidered.
Supporters on Twitter have had a mixed reaction to the leaked images:
Badge looks like a fridge magnet. ??

Terrible. No place for the green on the home kit. Do what you like with away kits but red and white (and sometimes yellow!) on home kit. If that’s the kit, I won’t be buying!

The green teal is an obvious callback to Liverpool’s Adidas kit from the 1993/94 season, and it is somewhat of a surprise that Nike have decided to ape a design previously used by their main rivals.
Whether these photos turn out to be the real deal, we shall have to wait and see. Kit launches are likely to be delayed with the Premier League season yet to resume due to the ongoing health crisis. Another meeting of all 20 top-flight clubs will be held on Friday to decide what the next course of action is.
