Balague Names Liverpool’s Two Main Premier League Rivals For £32m Rated Bundesliga Star

Manchester United and Arsenal are potential alternative destinations if Liverpool turn down the opportunity to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara, according to Guillem Balague.

The BBC and former Sky Sports journalist suggests that the Spaniard is keen on a move to the Premier League with the three clubs all being considered by the player.

However, Balague says the Reds’ reluctance to spend any money on transfers this summer could well see Thiago move to one of their rivals:

“Bayern Munich and Liverpool have not spoken about Thiago, what I’m getting is that Liverpool are still thinking of not spending, and they [Bayern] don’t think he is going to go to Liverpool. Then you’ve got Manchester United or Arsenal, so we will have to see”

It has been reported both in Germany and Spain that the 29-year-old is looking to leave Bayern this summer after having rejected a new contract with the Bundesliga club.

With one year remaining on Thiago’s current deal, it is believed the midfielder could be sold for €35m (£32m), although so far no club has made a formal offer for the player.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has stated his admiration for the Spanish international in recent days, but he stopped short of saying that the Merseyside club are interested in signing him.
