BBC journalist Guillem Balague has questioned reports linking Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele with a move to Liverpool in the summer.

Reports in the Catalan media had suggested that the Reds were seriously considering making am £80m offer for the France international but Balague believes the 22-year-old’s injury record would rule out a move:

“People are suggesting in the media that Dembele is wanted by Liverpool, but I don’t think so. They are very aware of his injuries and it’s a risk to take for Liverpool even though, of course, Klopp would like that kind of player.”

Liverpool have been linked with a number of other wingers in recent months. Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho has been tipped to make a switch to Anfield but the latest reports suggest that the Merseyside club will not get involved in the battle for the player.

Valencia’s Ferran Torres is, however, said to be a more likely target for the Reds, due to the player’s contract situation, while a bid for Villarreal’s Samuel Chukwueze cannot be ruled out either with the Premier League side having been long-term admirers of the Nigerian.

Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr has also been rumoured to be a target for manager Jurgen Klopp, although the Brazilian is believed to be happy at the Bernabeu.
