Balague Rules Out Liverpool Swoop For £89m Rated Spanish Ace As City, United And Chelsea All Circle

BBC pundit Guillem Balague has revealed that Liverpool are not interested in signing Valencia winger Ferran Torres, contradicting previous reports that the Reds were very keen on the 20-year-old.

It had been claimed that Jurgen Klopp’s side were keeping tabs on the Spaniard, whose contract at the Mestalla expires at the end of next season, but Balague says that while three other Premier League teams are watching the player, Liverpool are not:

“So who wants Ferran Torres? Everybody. Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City… not Liverpool, funnily enough.”

Torres does have a release clause of €100m (£89m), although he could be available for a lot less this summer due to the player’s contract situation.

Even so, it seems even a reduced price would not attract the Reds, who have already turned down the opportunity to sign RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner for £53m this summer.

It is now looking more and more likely that the Merseyside club won’t be making any major signings when the transfer window opens later this year.
