Barcelona Considering Free Transfer Swoop For Liverpool Left Back

Barcelona are weighing up a move for Liverpool fullback Alberto Moreno, according to reports in Spain.

The Catalan club are not looking to spend any money on new recruits, and with the defender’s contract expiring in the summer, Barca see the Spaniard as a possible solution at left-back.

Manager Ernesto Valverde is keen to strengthen the left-hand side of defence after Lucas Digne’s departure for Everton in the summer.

In addition to Moreno, Barcelona are reportedly considering a number of other candidates. Also in the mix are Arsenal’s Nacho Monreal, Atletico Madrid’s Filipe Luis, Manchester United’s Matteo Darmian and Athletic Bilbao’s Mikel Balenziaga.

The five players have all yet to sign new contracts with their respective clubs and can leave for nothing at the end of the season. Moreno has not played a single minute of first-team action so far this campaign, despite being named on the bench by Jurgen Klopp for the last three Premier League games.
