Barnes urges Klopp to make further signings

Liverpool legend John Barnes says the Reds still need to bring in further additions this summer if they are to challenge for a league title next season.

Jurgen Klopp has already signed two midfielders in Fabinho and Naby Keita, and hopes to sign a third in the form of an attacking midfielder as well.

However Barnes believes Liverpool still need to add more to the squad for the upcoming season, saying a new centre back as well as a centre forward are needed.

“I still think they need another centre-back even though Dejan Lovren has improved since Van Dijk came in,” Barnes said.

“I know Salah did incredibly well to score 44 goals but he’ll struggle to repeat last season and he’s not an out and out striker.

“I think Liverpool need a recognised goalscorer.

“Obviously Roberto Firmino is playing in there but he isn’t a No.9.”

“They need a proper goalscoring No.9 to play through the middle and provide a different option.”

Liverpool have been linked with a host of players this summer, and it is believed Klopp wants to add a new goalkeeper into the mix as well.

It was heavily rumoured that Paulo Dybala could be on his way to Anfield this summer from Juve, but recent reports claim he is not on the Reds’ radar.
