Ben Jacobs Makes “£80M+ Bid” Claim After Liverpool Are Linked With Hijacking Chelsea Transfer

Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo has been told that a Premier League team, other than Chelsea, has tabled an “£80m+ bid” for the player, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.

There was some speculation that the identity of the club could be Liverpool but Jacobs has said that is not the case:

From the sound of things, Liverpool will not be entering the battle to sign Caicedo, which may disappoint some fans who were hoping that the club would turn their attention towards the Ecuadorian international as a transfer target.

His valuation does seem to be beyond the Reds’ price range, though, with Brighton believed to be asking for as much as £100m.

A third bid for Lavia

While Liverpool are not expected to make a concerted effort to recruit Caicedo, it appears they haven’t given up hope of securing the services of Romeo Lavia instead.

After having two bids turned down by Southampton, a third offer is now thought to be in the works. Whether it will reach the £50m asking price that the Saints have been demanding, though, it remains to be seen.

Liverpool are scouring the market for midfielders

Manager Jurgen Klopp has made it clear in no uncertain terms that he wants to reinforce the middle of the park before the transfer window closes so, even if they don’t manage to sign Lavia, another player is still likely to be brought in.

Fluminense’s Andre is said to be on the club’s radar as well, although a decision on the Brazilian’s future may only be made after the match against Argentinos Juniors next week.
