Liverpool have been linked with both AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie and Borussia Monchengladbach’s Denis Zakaria in recent months.
The pair, who have also been mentioned as targets for Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City, could be available for very low fees in January with their contracts expiring at the end of the season.
There is also the possibility of signing Kessie and Zakaria on pre-contract agreements, and supporters on Twitter have been debating whether either player is good enough for the Reds:
Both good players! Kessie perhaps adds more goals but Zakaria more versatile!

Neither.

I’ll rather wait for Kessie in july than take Denis this month.

None of them is good enough.

For me Kessie, he plays like Gini, works very hard and plays very good passes. He is also versatile, he can be a defensive midfielder, play as a centre midfielder or as an attacking midfield. He scores crucial goals for AC

Based on performances this season Zakaria, Kessie didn’t look good in Liverpool’s games against him in the Champs league

Liverpool will probably look to reinforce their midfield next summer. James Milner is now 35 and is out of contract, while both Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will be heading into the final year of their current deals.
Kessie and Zakaria are both 25 so they would be the right age, but there are question marks over their ability to adapt to the very demanding role they would be asked to perform in Jurgen Klopp’s team. We shall see if the Reds do firm up their interest in either player.
