Brighton meeting ‘most important game of the season’ – Jurgen Klopp

Jurgen Klopp says Liverpool’s visit from Brighton this weekend is the ‘most important game of the season’ so far.

The Reds welcome the Seasiders to Anfield on Sunday, knowing a point will secure their place in the top four and hence Champions League football next season.

Liverpool face Real Madrid in the competition of the final this season, however with the date in Kiev over two week, Klopp’s focus remains wholly on Brighton and if you want to bet on either game you can get value odds at Scommesse24.net.

“As long as we are not 100 per cent in the Champions League, this last game is the most important of the season,” the manager told Sky Sports.

“I’ve said it a few times, all the things we’ve done so far have built a basis, we have to use the basis. The basis is obviously good because if we win against Brighton we are in the Champions League.

“That’s good but there is still a job to do. I have no problem with that. That wasn’t only because of the Chelsea game [last Sunday]. It was all the other games – Tottenham and Everton at home – when we dropped points.

“That’s the situation but it’s no problem to play the game, we have to play it anyway so now we have to win it, that’s it.”

Liverpool currently sit two points ahead of fifth placed Chelsea, who take on Newcastle on the final day and a tie or a win will see the Reds make it to the Champions League no matter what Chelsea do at St James Park.

Let’s not forget that Chelsea have a horrendous record in the North East having always had great difficulty avoiding defeat yet alone winning all 3 points there so Liverpool can take great comfort from that.

Also, Newcastle are managed by Rafa Benitez these days so they play a solid system and they do not leak goals as their -8 goal difference suggests and this is especially impressive when you consider that they have had great deal of trouble finding the net – only managing to score 38 league goals.

Another factor playing into this weekend is that when Rafa Benitez was the Liverpool manager the Reds managed to secure a number of massive wins over Chelsea as Rafa always found a way to blunt Chelsea’s attacking threats and the old Liverpool boss will surely be happy to do his old team a favour if he can by leading Newcastle to a win over the Blues.
