Bundesliga Defender Makes Declaration On His Future Amid Links To Liverpool, Arsenal And City

Schalke defender Malick Thiaw says he is flattered by reports linking him with a move to the Premier League, but he is happy to stay at his current club.

It was reported earlier this month that Liverpool were monitoring the teenager, while there were also claims in March that both Arsenal and Manchester City were scouting the centre-back. However, when asked about his future, Thiaw said he has no plans to leave the Bundesliga:

“Of course you’re happy when big clubs are after you, but it was actually clear to me that I would stay at Schalke.”

Thiaw is certainly not a centre-back that the Reds would be targeting to replace the likes of the injured Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez anyway considering his lack of experience. The 19-year-old has only made seven senior appearances in his career so far and he is, very much, one for the future.

In terms of Liverpool’s search for new recruits, it is believed that the Premier League champions have no plans to sign a player in January despite their injury situation.
