Liverpool are leading the race to sign Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria, according to the Gazzetta Dello Sport.

The Swiss international is out of contract at the end of the season and the Italian newspaper claims that Gladbach would be willing to let him leave for between €8m (£6.8m) and €10m (£8.5m) in the January transfer window

Five teams, in addition to the Reds, are reportedly pursuing Zakaria with Bayern Munich, Barcelona, ​​Borussia Dortmund, Juventus and Roma all said to be interested in the 24-year-old.

However, Gazzetta believe that the midfielder “dreams of Liverpool” and he is very keen to secure a move to the Premier League either next month or in the summer.
