Bundesliga Star (With £60M Release Clause) Admits It Would Be “Special” To Play For Klopp

RB Leipzig attacking midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai has revealed that he would like to play for Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.

The Hungarian international has been heavily linked with a move to Newcastle in recent weeks, but he says that working under Klopp would be “special”:

“It would certainly be a special experience to work under Klopp. As it would be under (Manchester City boss Pep) Guardiola or (Roma’s) Jose Mourinho. I don’t know what they would be able to get out of me.”

Szoboszlai does have a €70m (£60m) release clause in his contract, but a move to Anfield does seem unlikely this summer due to the fact that the player is keen on playing Champions League football.

Leipzig have qualified for Europe’s top competition, as have Newcastle and Arsenal (who also have a longstanding interest in the midfielder).

The Reds, unfortunately, will have to make do with the Europa League and a move for Szoboszlai could be something that the club revisit next year if the 22-year-old stays in Germany.

Liverpool’s midfield targets for the summer transfer window

In addition to Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister, the club remain keen on recruiting Chelsea’s Mason Mount, although the likelihood of that transfer happening is beginning to fade.

Reports in France and Germany have also linked the Reds with both Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram and Borussia Monchengladbach’s Manu Kone in recent days.
