Campbell Calls On Arsenal To Beat Liverpool To Signing Of Malian Midfield Maestro

Ex-Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell feels Arsenal should be leading the race to sign Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma when the transfer window opens.

The Malian international has been linked with Liverpool, Manchester United and the Gunners in the last couple of weeks but Campbell feels the player would be the perfect signing for his former club, who need to strengthen in the middle of the park:

“I think Arsenal could do with a player like him for sure. Thomas Partey needs a partner in midfield with energy and he would fit the bill perfectly.”

It will be interesting to see whether any club makes an approach for Bissouma in January. The 24-year-old has spent the last two and a half years playing for the Seagulls but it has only been over the last six to twelve months where he has begun to perform at a consistent level.

Liverpool may well be looking for another central midfielder if Georginio Wijnaldum leaves Anfield at the end of the season. The Dutchman has reportedly been offered a new contract to extend his stay beyond the summer but the player is believed to be demanding a higher salary than the Reds are willing to offer him.
