Carragher Makes Big Claim About Cristiano Ronaldo As He Names His Combined Liverpool/United XI

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp would not pick Cristiano Ronaldo if he had a choice of both the Reds and Manchester United squads, according to Jamie Carragher.

The Sky Sports pundit opted to pick Mason Greenwood in his front three, leaving out the Portuguese legend when asked to name his combined eleven, and he says Klopp would also omit the United forward:

“No, I don’t think Jurgen Klopp would pick Ronaldo if he was picking what we’re picking now. That’s the headline for the weekend, isn’t it! He’s going to get the winner now.”

In terms of the rest of his eleven, Carragher went for nine Liverpool stars, including Alisson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joel Matip, Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson, Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, Mo Salah and Sadio Mane. Greenwood and Bruno Fernandes were his only United players.

Quite surprisingly nine of Gary Neville’s starting eleven were also from Liverpool’s team, with his United picks being Ronaldo and Harry Maguire. Considering the Red Devils’ huge investment in the transfer market in recent seasons, it is a damning indictment of their recruitment strategy. In contrast, Liverpool’s first XI is arguably the strongest in the Premier League.
