Carragher Names The Player Who Will Replace Lallana And Shaqiri At Liverpool

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher is predicting that Takumi Minamino will be the player that manager Jurgen Klopp will trust to replace both Adam Lallana and Xherdan Shaqiri.

The Japanese international has had a quiet start to his Anfield career after moving from Red Bull Salzburg for £7.25m in January by Carragher thinks he will play a more prominent role for the Reds going forward:

“We haven’t seen enough of Takumi Minamino yet, who I think can add something. But I think he’ll be more a replacement for Adam Lallana or Xherdan Shaqiri.”

Lallana’s contract at Liverpool expires in June, and the 31-year-old is expected to leave on a free transfer rather than sign an extension.

Shaqiri’s future is far less certain but the Swiss international’s brother and agent has spoken out in recent weeks to suggest that the winger may look to leave for more first-team football.

The likes of CSKA Moscow, Sevilla and Roma were said to be interested in the 28-year-old back in January and it is believed that the three teams are still monitoring the player’s situation.
