Carragher Praises “Beckham-esque” Liverpool Star After International Display

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher was effusive in his praise of Trent Alexander-Arnold after his excellent performance for England in the UEFA Nations League yesterday.

The 20-year-old was rested for the semi-final defeat to the Netherlands following his exploits for the Reds in the Champions League but was handed a start in the third-place playoff versus Switzerland.

Alexander-Arnold delivered a number of threatening balls into the box, and Carragher thinks the player has firmly established as the country’s number one right-back, comparing him to former Manchester United winger David Beckham:

“The one everyone will be talking about is Trent at right-back. He’s been outstanding. Beckham-esque I called him at half-time. He’s been the big winner in this game.”

Following a season where he has played 40 games, scored once and provided an astonishing 16 assists, he has earned a well-deserved break from football.

Having won a Champions League final at such a young age, Alexander-Arnold has already achieved what many never get a chance to in their careers, and supporters will be hoping he returns next season in the same form.
