Mo Salah Contract Situation: Former Striker Chris Sutton Says It’s ‘Hard To Believe’ Liverpool Haven’t Offered Him A New Deal

Liverpool attacker Mo Salah has admitted that no contract talks have taken place to keep him at Anfield beyond his current deal expires in the summer.

The winger had a fantastic game in Liverpool’s last match vs Manchester United where he recorded a goal and two assists but said after the game that it is his last year at Anfield.

He told Sky Sports: “I had a good summer and had a long time to myself to try and stay positive because as you know, it’s my last year at the club.”

However, reports have suggested that Salah would prefer to stay at Liverpool begging the question of why the Reds are yet to offer him a new contract.

Ex-Chelsea and Aston Villa striker Chris Sutton finds is surprising, he told casinoapps.com: “If the comments that Mo Salah made about not being offered a new Liverpool contract are true, I would find that pretty amazing.”

If Mo Salah leaves Liverpool, where will he go?

Many have suggested that Salah would likely move to a Saudi Pro League club should his time at Liverpool end. Last year, Sky Sports reported that Al Ittihad was prepared to pay up to £100m for Salah, but he didn’t want to move to Saudi Arabia then.

Chris Sutton believes that it is way too early for Salah if he was to move to a Saudi Pro League team, he said:”I am surprised that Salah is in this position. I would be staggered if he carries on this level of form and there isn’t some sort of offer from Liverpool.

“I think that everybody feels the same way. We don’t want to see Mo Salah going to Saudi. Not yet anyway. Not when he’s got so much to offer.”

Mo Salah – a Liverpool legend

The 32-year-old has been at Liverpool since 2017 for a fee of £18.2m after spells at Chelsea and Roma. He has since made over 350 appearances for the Reds scoring 214 goals and providing 92 assists.

Salah has also been the Premier League’s top scorer three times and has won the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup and three League cups.

Liverpool fans will be desperate that Salah can stay and that the Reds will offer him a new deal, but it is unlikely that we will see the winger in the Premier League for more than a year or two.
