Coach Calls On Bayern Star To Stay As Liverpool Join Host Of PL Clubs Keeping Tabs On Contract Situation

Bayern Munich head coach Hansi Flick has called on defender David Alaba to commit his future to the European Cup winners.

Liverpool have reportedly joined the likes of Manchester United and Manchester City in watching developments with the Austrian international now inside the final year of his contract at the Allianz Arena.

Flick is still hoping that Alaba opts to extend his stay with the Bundesliga champions beyond the end of the season and he has warned the 28-year-old that he may regret leaving the club if he decides to move on in the summer:

“The conditions are top for every player right now and I think he’ll think twice about changing that. He will think about it, I am sure, but we will have to respect any decision. I hope he will remain with us but ultimately it is his decision.”

Whether Liverpool would actually consider signing Alaba, it is up for debate. Although the Austrian is capable of playing in many positions, including left-back, centre-back, central midfield and on the wing, his salary and signing on fee would likely be substantial.

After snapping up Thiago Alcantara last month, though, you wouldn’t rule out the Reds making a move for another Bayern player in the future.
