Comparing Mo Salah’s Performances With Previous Seasons Reveals Some Positivity

It’s no secret that Liverpool simply haven’t been performing at the peak of their abilities this season. Several of their key players – such as Mohamed Salah – are no exception to this.

Since joining Liverpool, Salah has scored 20+ goals in every season for the Reds bar one. The only time he failed to reach the 20 goal mark, he still scored 19.

This season, however, the Egyptian icon has scored just seven goals in 20 games, alongside four assists. Not a bad return by any means, but by his standards, it is a low tally.

Despite this, there is still plenty of time for Salah to recapture his best form. He suffered a slight drop in form towards the end of last season, though this can probably be notched up to the grueling schedule (which included a spell in the African Cup of Nations) taking its toll on him.

Generally, the former Chelsea and AS Roma man does tend to pick up towards the end of a campaign. In 17/18, he scored eight goals in his last seven league games – meanwhile, in 18/19, he netted five times in his last 7 Premier League games, as well as picking up 2 assists.

Crucially, he hasn’t lost his pace, which is perhaps his most important attribute. He’s an excellent dribbler with magical ball control, but it is his ability to get in behind teams that makes him so lethal.

He has fallen behind the likes of Leicester City’s James Maddison, Man United’s Marcus Rashford and even Newcastle’s Miguel Almiron this season. Despite his uninspiring start to the campaign, you can never count out a player as good as Mo Salah.

You can expect him to come on strong in the remainder of the Premier League campaign and don’t bet against him finally getting revenge on Real Madrid in the Champions League.
