‘Concrete’ Interest From Liverpool As They Join City And Arsenal In Battle For Polish Midfield Maestro

Liverpool have made an enquiry for Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski, according to Calciomercato.it. The Italian website claims that “sources close to the player” have told them that interest from the Premier League is “concrete”.

Manchester City are also said to be keeping tabs on the Polish international, while there have been other reports in recent days suggesting that Arsenal are keen on the midfielder as well.

Zielinski has been on Liverpool’s radar for a number of years. Even before he moved to Napoli from Udinese in 2016, he had been tracked by the Reds’ scouting team with manager Jurgen Klopp reportedly a big fan of the player.

At this stage, a transfer does seem unlikely. Napoli are not really interested in selling a key player and, with the 27-year-old having three years left on his contract, the Serie A side are under no pressure to offload him for a knockdown price.

It’s likely that Zielinski is being considered, along with a number of other targets, including the likes of Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez, Lille’s Renato Sanches, Borussia Monchengladbach’s Florian Neuhaus, Brighton’s Yves Bissouma and Ajax’s Ryan Gravenberch.
