Daniel Sturridge gives update on his Liverpool future

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge says he is determined to stay at Anfield at fight for his place.

The Englishman found himself as the club’s third choice striker last term behind Roberto Firmino and Dominic Solanke, and was subsequently loaned out to West Bromwich Albion for the second half of the season.

Sturridge has since returned to pre-season with Jurgen Klopp’s side however and has impressed in the Red three fixtures so far, scoring twice.

And the 28-year-old says he is determined to keep up his good start to the summer and force his way back into the Reds first-team plans next season.

“I see myself staying at Liverpool, hopefully being part of the team week in, week out,” said Sturridge.

“Pre-season is going well, so for me it’s keeping my head down and building on that. I’m excited about the season ahead and it feels great to be back.

“I am feeling great and can’t wait to get the season under way. We have the tour to come where we face some great teams like Manchester United, Manchester City and [Borussia] Dortmund.”

Liverpool next take on Blackburn Rovers on on Thursday night before embarking to America to compete in the International Champions Cup.
