Darren Bent Makes Confident Prediction About Darwin Nunez Which Liverpool Fans Will Love

TalkSPORT pundit Darren Bent firmly believes that Darwin Nunez will get in the goals despite a stop-start beginning to his Liverpool career.

The Uruguayan international returned to the team against Everton at the weekend following a three-match ban and, although the forward didn’t get on the scoresheet, Bent feels the player has shown enough already to suggest he’ll be a regular scorer for the Reds:

“He’s probably got off to a slower start and the headbutt against Crystal Palace won’t help things. But he has shown that he’s super sharp, He’s only played three games and got a goal so at least he’s hit the ground running. He did score in the Community Shield against Man City [as well], he is a real livewire, but it’s going to take time.”

“We’ve seen big strikers who have big reputations in other countries come to the Premier League and struggle. I think he’s in a side that will create chances for him. I think eventually he will start scoring goals, but he just hasn’t got off to the most electric start.”

Nunez did have a fair few sighters on goal at Goodison Park, and he was unlucky with the shot that Jordan Pickford tipped onto the bar, but there are some lingering concerns about how clinical he is.

At the very highest level, you don’t get many opportunities to put the ball into the back of the net and it is hoped that the excellent finishing ability he showed at Benfica will soon be on display in a Liverpool shirt.

Bent, who once scored 24 league goals for Sunderland in a single season, seems to be confident that Nunez will come good so, hopefully, he will be proven correct.
