Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has insisted Ousmane Dembele will not leave the Nou Camp this summer, despite rumours linking him with a move to Liverpool.

Dembele found himself linked with a shock move to Anfield earlier this month after Jurgen Klopp admitted his interest in bringing the Frenchman to Anfield.

And after a difficult first season in Spain for the youngster it was thought the Catalan’s could be willing to let him leave this summer.

However, Barcelona’s head honcho says otherwise. Speaking recently, Bartomeu said: “The option of selling him is not on the table.

“We are finishing the season and then there will be meetings.”

Dembele joined Barca last summer in a €135 million from Borussia Dortmund, however suffered a huge injury set-back on his debut for the club, keeping him out of action until January.

Since his return, Dembele has shown glimpses of his talent – managing four goals in all competitions – however Bartomeu knows there will be much more to come from the promising 21-year-old.

“He’s an investment for the future. He is very young and we expect a lot from him.”
