Di Marzio Provides The Latest Update On Liverpool’s Interest In Timo Werner

Sky Sports Italy journalist Gianluca Di Marzio says RB Leipzig striker Tim Werner will be leaving his current club in the summer, but he has raised doubts over a potential switch to Liverpool.

The Reds have been heavily linked with the 24-year-old over the past few months, but while Di Marzio says his agents are actively looking to find their client a new team, his destination may not be Anfield:

“I know that Timo Werner will leave Leipzig and his agents are working to find a move for him. His agents are speaking with Juventus and Inter.”

“They are probably also speaking with Liverpool but I don’t know if he is the right player for the Reds who currently have Firmino, Salah and Mane in attack.”

Werner’s prospective transfer to Liverpool has turned into a saga. While the player has made a number of statements to suggest he would love to work under Jurgen Klopp, it doesn’t appear the feeling is mutual.

The Reds are not believed to be willing to pay the German’s €60m (£52m) release clause, especially in the current climate, leaving the way clear for other teams to make their move.

As well as Juve and Inter, the likes of Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Manchester United have all been mentioned as possible future clubs for the forward.
