Didier Drogba Reveals How He Helped Salah Become An “Unstoppable” Goalscorer

Former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has said that Mo Salah has asked for his advice on plenty of occasions over the years.

The pair struck up a friendship during their time together at Stamford Bridge but they continued to talk when Salah made the move to Italy. When the Egyptian international went through a mini-goal drought after starting to score regularly for Roma, Drogba was the first person he sought advice from.

The Ivorian said he imparted some key advice before Salah began to get back in the goals, with the player continuing in a rich vein of form ever since:

“We spoke a few times when he was at Roma and he was scoring goals. He then had a moment when he was not scoring. He asked me ‘how do you deal with this kind of situation’? I shared with him a lot of examples of experience and told him it happened to me and all strikers. But you have to go back to basics. As soon as he did that…. boom. He was unstoppable, and still is.”

It is surprising to hear that Drogba has played an important role as Salah’s confidant, but it seems that the Liverpool star’s character and ability were the things that led to Drogba keeping in touch. The ex Blues’ star said he was always impressed with his former teammate’s attitude:

“What really got me attached to Mo is that he’s a really nice guy and really polite even when he was not playing. He was sad not to contribute to the team, but he was always good. He said not one word regarding the coach or even the players. When you have this kind of intelligence, it’s just a matter of time before you blow up.”
