“Different Level” Ian Wright Names The Two Liverpool Players Who Put Arsenal To The Sword Last Night

Ex-Arsenal striker Ian Wright has praised Diogo Jota and Trent Alexander-Arnold after the pair played key roles in helping Liverpool seal their place in the Carabao Cup final at the expense of the Gunners last night.

Jota scored both goals in the 2-0 win, while Alexander-Arnold was credited with two assists, and Wright took to Twitter to say that the two players were instrumental in taking down his former club:

Alexander-Arnold’s 15 assists in 24 appearances is quite something, but a lot of the credit for yesterday’s result has to go to Jota.

The Portuguese international’s mazy run and finish for the opening goal was excellent, and his composure to lift the ball over the onrushing Aaron Ramsdale for his second was arguably even better.

Even though Liverpool have undoubtedly missed the contributions of both Mo Salah and Sadio Mane whilst they have been away at the African Cup of Nations, having someone like Jota to call upon has softened the blow.
