GK – Alisson – the Brazilian will be hoping for a quiet afternoon at Old Trafford.
RB – Trent Alexander-Arnold – United have tended to target their attacks down Liverpool’s right in past encounters and Trent will need to stand up defensively.
CB – Ibrahima Konate – After being dropped for the opening day fixture against Ipswich, the Frenchman has quickly won back his starting spot.
CB – Virgil van Dijk – United could start Joshua Zirkzee up front, having used Bruno Fernandes as a false nine in their first two fixtures, so Liverpool’s captain will likely have someone to mark.
LB – Andrew Robertson – question marks have been raised about the 30-year-old’s future but, after an iffy first 45 minutes against Ipswich, the left-back has performed well.
