Emre Can seals deal to take him it Italy

Liverpool midfielder Emre Can has agreed to leave Anfield at the end of the season to join Serie A side Juventus, according to reports from Italy.

The Germany international failed to agree a new contract with the Reds and is hence able to leave the club as a free agent during the summer.

Can has long been linked with a move to Juventus, who have been sounding him out since January, and now Tuttosport and Gazzetta dello Sport claim the deal is done.

Can is understood to have shaken hands on a five-year-deal with the reigning Italian champions, however no announcement on the deal is likely to come until the season’s close.

The 24-year-old midfielder is seen by Juve as a long-term replacement for either Sami Khedira or Claudio Marchisio, both of whom are entering the final stages of their careers.

Can is currently sidelined with a back problem and is touch-and-go as to whether he’ll be fit before the end of the season, meaning he could have already played his last game in a Liverpool shirt.

The former Bayer Leverkusen star was also missing from the photoshoots unveiling Liverpool’s kit for next season, sparking rumours he had already agreed to leave the club.
