Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is unlikely to be happy with the lack of preparation he will get for the Merseyside derby this weekend. A number of players will only return from international duty on Thursday and, with a kick off at lunchtime on Saturday, there will hardly be any time to plan a strategy for the clash at Goodison Park.

Everton head into the game in confident mood with Carlo Ancelotti’s side having won their opening four league games, and they will be determined to win their first derby for ten years.

In terms of team news, Liverpool will have the likes of Sadio Mane and Thiago Alcantara back in contention, after finishing their quarantine for positive COVID-19 tests. Kostas Tsimikas (thigh), Alisson (shoulder) and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain remain on the sidelines, while doubts remain over Naby Keita with conflicting reports about his availability due to COVID-19.

Everton could have captain Seamus Coleman and Allan back available, while Ancelotti has also confirmed Andre Gomes is fit and ready to play. There are, however, more doubts over Yerry Mina due to a thigh issue, while Mason Holgate, Jarrad Branthwaite, Jonjoe Kenny, Jean-Philippe Gbamin and Cenk Tosun are all still out of action.
