Ex-Liverpool Star Backs Club To Pay £100m For Midfielder Who Would Be “Instant Success”

Ex-Liverpool Star Backs Club To Pay £100m For Midfielder Who Would Be “Instant Success”

Former Liverpool winger Jimmy Carter has backed the Reds to sign Leicester City’s James Maddison this summer.

The ex-Red thinks that the 22-year-old would fit perfectly into Jurgen Klopp’s midfield and would be an excellent addition, even if the player costs £100m:

“James Maddison seems like a perfect fit for Liverpool. For me, if Liverpool were to get him, they’re talking about £70-75million.”

“I would pay £100m to get James Maddison into the midfield at Liverpool, and he would be an instant success. He would be a remarkable player and acquisition for Liverpool FC.”

Maddison is certainly a bright young prospect, having scored seven goals and provided seven assists in 38 appearances for Leicester last campaign. He has also been linked with Manchester United, Manchester City and Tottenham.

Liverpool have been lacking a playmaker since the departure of Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona but Klopp appears to be content with the club’s options up front.

The Merseysiders have recently contacted media outlets to deny their interest in Lille winger Nicolas Pepe and it is believed this could well be a quiet transfer window for the club.

So far, the Reds have made one signing with Sepp van den Berg having joined from Zwolle, while they have also sold Rafa Camacho to Sporting Lisbon for £5m in recent days.
