Ex Liverpool Star Calls On Club To Hijack Arsenal’s Move For 35M Rated Portuguese Midfield Maestro

Ex-Liverpool midfielder Paul Stewart believes Liverpool should get involved in the race to sign Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves this summer.

The Portuguese international is reportedly being targeted by Arsenal, with Manchester United having also been linked with the 24-year-old in recent months. However, with Wolves expected to let the player leave for £35m, Stewart thinks the price tag could tempt the Reds into making an offer:

“I think Neves has proved himself in the Premier League for me. So I think he’d be a really good signing at that price because for a player of his quality it’s nothing.”

While Neves is certainly a good player, he did suffer an alarming dip in form last season, having scored five goals and contributed two assists in 40 appearances.

It appears Liverpool are focused on signing a different type of midfielder, with Borussia Monchengladbach’s Florian Neuhaus and Brighton’s Yves Bissouma both said to be on the Merseyside club’s radar.

Manager Jurgen Klopp has a very specific set of attributes he looks for when it comes to signing players and Neves may simply not fit what he needs.
