Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho’s “main wish” is to return to Liverpool, according to Sport. The Brazilian international has his heart set on moving back to the Premier League this summer but, while he’d be keen on a switch to Anfield, the Reds are not.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have another target in mind, Sport claims, saying they are currently looking to seal a deal for Bayern Munich’s Thiago Alcantara. There is still believed to be a disparity between the two teams’ valuation of the player with the Spaniard’s club valuing him at €35m (£32m).
Whether Liverpool will complete a move for the Bayern playmaker this summer, we shall have to wait and see but it looks almost certain that Coutinho won’t be coming back.
It is thought there are three main alternatives for the Brazilian, with Arsenal, Tottenham and Leicester being his main suitors. His €10m (£9m) salary may, though, prove a major obstacle to a move going ahead this summer.
