Fabinho Names His Two Favourites (Other Than Liverpool) For The Premier League Title

Liverpool midfielder Fabinho believes that Manchester City and Chelsea will be the Reds’ two main rivals for the Premier League this season.

The Brazilian says both teams have continued to invest in their squads over the summer, and they will be there or thereabouts at the end of the campaign:

“If I look at the team, I think Manchester City are the favourites, as they’re the defending champions and still keep strengthening themselves, which is what they do every season. They, even being champions, winning titles, always want to reinforce, so they are favourites of the season. Chelsea, current Champions League champions, keep buying, too. I think these two teams come really strong, too, and are the favourites.”

Fabinho opted against mentioning Manchester United in his comments which suggests that he doesn’t see the Red Devils as a major threat, despite the club having spent heavily on the likes of Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Cristiano Ronaldo.

In terms of Liverpool’s chances, Fabinho defended his team against accusations that they haven’t brought in enough signings and he thinks the fact that the club managed to tie down key players to new contracts was very important:

“If you want to have a winning team, we have to keep the most important pieces and that’s what Liverpool have been doing.”

We shall see if the Reds’ decision not to invest in new recruits will affect their ability to compete with the likes of City and Chelsea as they battle for the title.
