Fabregas Claims Ex Liverpool Star Was The Toughest Opponent He Faced In The Premier League

Former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has named ex Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard as the toughest opponent he came up against in England.

When asked by a fan on Twitter about the most difficult player he faced during his time with the Gunners, Fabregas replied:

Fabregas spent eight years in Arsenal’s first team, and he would have played against Gerrard on numerous occasions in that period.

The Liverpool legend was a force of nature during the mid to late 00s so it is unsurprising that Fabregas did not hesitate in claiming that the England international was such a challenging opponent.

There is a seven-year age gap between the two players, with Fabregas still playing for Monaco in the French League at the age of 34. Gerrard, in contrast, has retired but he has already demonstrated he is a very good manager too, having guided Rangers to the Scottish Premiership title last season.
