Firmino responds to ‘idiot’ Ramos after CL final jibe

Liverpool star Roberto Firmino has responded to Madrid captain Sergio Ramos after his comments about the Champions League final.

Ramos was at the centre of several controversial moments during the game, bringing down Mo Salah and forcing him off with a shoulder injury as well as catching goalkeeper Loris Karius with his arm which was later found to have lead to the goalkeeper having a concussion.

Madrid triumphed 3-1 in the final to take home their 3rd Champions League title in as many years, but the Spanish centre back recently came out and mocked Liverpool for their series of unfortunate occurrences during the game.

“Bloody hell, they’ve given this a lot of attention, the Salah thing,” Ramos said on Tuesday.

“I didn’t want to speak because everything is magnified. I see the play well, he grabs my arm first and I fell to the other side, the injury happened to the other arm and they said that I gave him a judo hold.

“After the goalkeeper said that I dazed him with a clash with me I am only missing Firmino saying that he got a cold because a drop of my sweat.”

But speaking ahead of Brazil’s pre-World Cup friendly with Austria, Liverpool forward Firmino hit back at the defender, despite saying he would keep his comments to himself.

“I prefer not to make any comments,” he said. “I think he has a view because he was the champion but I thought he was an idiot for what he said but that’s okay.”
